The Curse Is Reversed
Even as Mephibosheth was crippled as the result of an accidental fall at the hands of a woman he trusted, his nurse; all of mankind suffered a crippling fall when the mother of all living, Eve, dropped her child (mankind) as a result of being beguiled. The enemy, Satan, through the voice of the serpent, tempted her with the same three tools that he still continues to use -- the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. Her choice initiated a chain reaction when she influenced Adam to consent to the plan of deception and disobedience by partaking of the forbidden fruit. Their deception birthed forth death -- spiritual and physical. As a result, they were forced to relocate outside and away from Eden (the place of delight), and like Mephibosheth, they began to dwell in Lodebar (the place of no pasture). Pastures speak of nourishment, fulfillment, and bountiful blessings; so, Adam and Eve, like Mephibosheth, were now void of it all. Unknown to Mephibosheth, his father, Jonathan, had previously cut a special covenant with David, the shepherd boy who bacame king. That special covenant released provisions of grace upon Mephibosheth. David summoned Mephibosheth to come and dine at his table and receive all the provisions of his royal inheritance which he knew not awaited him. Likewise, Jesus cut an eternal covenant with his Father on behalf of mankind. We, like Mephibosheth, have a royal inheritance that has been bequeathed unto us. Jesus, through His death on the cross, has purchased our right to royal provisions. Many still live in Lodebar, not knowing their inheritance awaits them. Even as David invited Mephibosheth to come and dine, Jesus has extended the same invitation to mankind. Seating is still available at The King' s Table; one can be seated by acknowledging Jesus as Savior, asking for forgiveness of sins, and asking Jesus to come and live within his/her heart. (Romans 10:9-10).
